Springfield College MA, USA, 1-3 June, 2010
Participants from YMCAs with education programs from 7 countries assembled together under the aegis of International Coalition of YMCA Universities at the Springfield College, Springfield, Massachusetts, USA from 1st to 3rd June 2010.
The German YMCA has launched the new International YMCA University of Applied Sciences with Reverend Dr. Wolfgang Neuser as the Rector. Dr. Barbara Schellhammer of the German University presented the details of the first program, “B.A. in Human Development and Leadership in Cross-Cultural Dialogue”, which was well received by the participants.
The Coalition of YMCA Universities has launched the first website www.coalitionymcauniversities.org that worked until 2016.
Dr. Robert Willey, Dean, School of Human Services of Springfield College MA, is the new Coordinator of Coalition of YMCA Universities for 3 years. He succeeded Dr. Wolfgang Neuser.
Hong Kong, 19-24 July, 2010
17th world council of YMCAs in Hong Kong is underway. For more information log on to www.ymca.int. The World Council of YMCAs meets every four years, each time hosted by a different National YMCA Movement. World Council meetings have therefore been held all over the world. The 17th World Council of YMCAs is taking place from 19th – 24th July 2010 in Hong Kong. The theme is, “Striving for Global Citizenship for All”.
There is a workshop where aims and objectives of YMCA universities and training institutes worldwide is elaborated along with the role of these institutions in providing the empirical basis for the YMCA’s social work and building of competent leaders. This is presented by Rev. Dr. Wolfgang Neuser and Dr. Barbara Schellhammer of the German University and YMCA University Coalition.
